Cole Hickson
Co-Founder & CEO
Cole Hickson is the Founder and CEO of Clear Range Energy and currently serves as an elected School Trustee in British Columbia. With a background in communications within the financial services industry, he brings extensive experience in public engagement, government relations, and economic policy. Cole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies and Economics from Thompson Rivers University and is passionate about connecting Canadian communities to the global transition in renewable energy while creating sustainable economic opportunities at the local level.

Leif Douglass
Co-Founder & Director of Development
Leif Douglass is a policy professional with a Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria and a Graduate Certificate in Evaluation. His work focuses on municipal and provincial policy, with particular interests in rural development, climate action, and community engagement. His graduate research examined the political economy of British Columbia’s fiscal transition under decarbonization and the role of resource-based development in supporting public revenue.

Get to Know Us
Clear Range Energy is led by a founding team with a shared background in public policy, community engagement, and government relations. Cole Hickson and Leif Douglass have worked together in policy roles involving direct collaboration with government, communities, businesses, non-profits and public institutions across British Columbia. Through this work, they contributed to initiatives and advocacy efforts that helped shape provincial mandates in education policy while engaging closely with local governments and community stakeholders. Building on that experience, they are now working together to support the development of renewable energy infrastructure that strengthens local economies, empowers communities, and helps position Canada as a leader in the global clean energy transition.
